Practice Direction 18 supports the operation of section 120 of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 regarding the circumstances in which an outline consent may be granted.

The object of the Practice Direction is to:
- outline the circumstances under which an outline consent may be granted
- clarify procedural matters
- specify other matters associated with outline consents
- specify the operative period for an outline consent.
The Practice Direction specifies that the Commission must be the relevant authority for the purposes of granting outline consent.
For the purposes of section 52(1) of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 this statutory instrument has been certified by the Chief Executive.
