About this document
This Ministerial Building Standard (MBS 006) modifies the application of the Building Code to buildings and building work where:
- compliance with the access provisions of the Building Code would cause hardship
- an application for a division of land is being made and, there are one or more existing buildings on the property that may be affected by the land division.
Ministerial Building Standards form part of the Building Rules which are used to assess a development application for building consent. All standards must be read in conjunction with the requirements of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017.
