The Minister may constitute regional assessment panels that operate across multiple council areas in place of individual council assessment panels.
Overview
Regional assessment panels (RAPs) are bodies established for the assessment and determination of development applications in their areas. RAPs are established by the Minister under section 84 of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.
The establishment of amalgamated panels has proven to work well and provides uniformity in decision-making and operating efficiencies. This demonstrates significant benefits in sharing resources and the diverse knowledge and experience of a wider range of panel members.
The assessment manager for a RAP is appointed by the Chief Executive of the Department for Housing and Urban Development (or a delegate). Appointments of assessment managers may be facilitated by contacting DHUD.APSQueries@sa.gov.au.
