Have your say on Accredited Professionals Amendment Regulations and General Amendment Regulations changes

Published Thursday, 22 October 2026

The South Australian Government is proposing amendments to planning regulations that aim to improve the efficiency, integrity and effectiveness of the planning system.

These amendments are being made to the Accredited Professionals and General Amendment Regulations.

The proposed amendments include:

  • simplifying the complaints process by replacing mandatory statutory declarations with a discretionary requirement where further evidence is needed
  • introducing expiation notices for certain breaches, creating a stronger deterrent and improving compliance with planning legislation and accreditation requirements
  • introducing targeted improvements to the accredited professionals framework, including insurance requirements and disclosure obligations for accreditation applicants
  • streamlining administration, reduce unnecessary regulatory burden and strengthen public confidence in South Australia's planning system.

The proposed amendments are based on stakeholder feedback from prior consultations.

For more information and to view the draft amendments, visit the PlanSA website. Feedback on the proposed changes can be submitted by emailing PlanSASubmissions@sa.gov.au.

Consultation on the Accredited Professionals and General Amendment Regulations is open from 22 October 2026 to 3 December 2026.
