Changes to Crown and essential infrastructure development applications

Published Thursday, 5 October 2023

The ability to submit Crown and essential infrastructure development applications through the PlanSA Development Application Processing (DAP) system will soon be made available for government agencies and prescribed bodies. State agencies or applicants lodging on behalf of or sponsored by a Crown agency will be able to register for an online account and lodge new development applications and land division proposals directly into the PlanSA system. The DAP provides increased visibility over assessment processes and additional functionality for applicants compared to the existing lodgement process. The DAP will be used for:

  • lodging development applications online
  • tracking the progress of a lodged development application through the assessment process
  • online assessment for decision makers and referral bodies
  • issuing decisions online
  • digital notifications.

The addition of Crown and essential infrastructure applications with the DAP will simplify how state agencies, decision makers and others interact with the planning system and will provide a centralised place for all South Australia’s assessment processes into the future.

Applications that are currently under assessment will continue to be processed within existing systems. Requests to vary previously approved development applications should be sent by email to spcapplications@sa.gov.au.

PlanSA is holding an online information session on 31 October 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am to inform state agencies, applicants, and referral bodies on how Crown and essential infrastructure applications can be lodged and responded to within the DAP system.

For more information about the process of lodging and managing Crown and essential infrastructure in the DAP and the training session, please visit the Crown development and essential infrastructure page on the PlanSA portal.
